SOPA and my thoughts

SOPA makes me sad in two ways:

1. The obvious one is the possible enactment of SOPA, which will pretty much put an end to free internet; in a larger sense, infringing freedom of speech.
2. Second, and a subtle one, perhaps, is the incessant class struggle that has been witnessed since the dawn of civilization; settlers vs. hunter-gatherers, warriors/nobles vs. workers, aristocrats vs. proletariats, finally getting their newest labels, capitalists vs. humble consumers 

But what happened when church oppressed its people, and aristocrats extorted from the proletariats is already known to us through history; people could never be completely tamed - standing ovation goes to Christianity as it managed to fool its minions for quite a long time. But even church, mighty God, couldn't silence the devout people. Enlightenment through science, technology, philosophy - knowledge as a whole - could not have been stopped even by the concept as o-so-fantastic as God himself (I find referring to God as him very egotistic of mankind - I recommend this movie called The Name of the Roses... For Christians who are mortified by my blasphemy, I recommend Nietzsche's Antichrist. Although he despises Christianity, he is quite fond of Jesus as a person).

Mankind's knowledge is what will free us from all these shackles - religions, morality, class struggles - that it created millennia ago. Then they might have been necessary, or - as Nietzsche puts it - convenient for the higher power to control the slaves or the poor. But now, everyone sees too much and knows too much to be controlled, silenced, and blindfolded. As long as we can listen to everything with a grain of salt. SOPA presents only another of these struggles and we won't be tamed; it's impossible. The fight against media is a way to be free from one of the shackles - shackles that hold us from apotheosis. 

I love mankind too much to rely on these obsolete things - let's keep on learning, understanding, analyzing, accepting, rejecting, and creating. Should SOPA stand on its way, it must be, and invariably will be, removed.
